Just a quick note on the recently concluded India-Vietnam Second Strategy Dialogue, held in Hanoi August 8 and 9 (reported here):
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern.
They agreed the East Sea issue needs to be solved by peaceful measures based on international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and also agreed concerned parties needs to strictly implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
The two sides highly valued and agreed to continue close cooperation at regional and international forums, including ASEAN-India cooperation, the East Asia Summit (EAS), Mekong-Ganga Cooperation and at the United Nations.
They also discussed viewpoints on non-traditional security, while agreeing to hold the third Strategic Dialogue and the sixth political consultation in India at a convenient time in 2013.
I’d try and come back to some of these later.
